Wet rooms
The wet room has seen renaissance in recent years. A wonderful idea, but please always seek professional advice from someone who has installed a wet room before.
We have a product called WEDI that we recommend to anyone considering a wet room. This product is preformed and completely waterproof. It forms the shower tray as well as wall panels. The wonderful thing about WEDI is that you no longer need to tank your bathroom, just lay and tile on immediately.
Things to bear in mind when installing a wet room.
Seek professional advice, particularly if you are considering installing a wet room on an upper floor. With so much water splashing about, it would just be awful if half of it ended up in the room below. Also bear in mind the combined weight of a completely tiled room and ensure that there are sufficient load bearing walls capable of supporting the weight.
Without the enclosure, the shower areas in Wet Rooms are not always the warmest places. Under floor heating is a great idea; but remember water and electricity don’t mix.
